At some point, after billions of years of turmoil on Earth, things quieted down and life began. Nobody knows exactly when and how, but we have some pretty good ideas.
But before getting into that, shouldn't we define life?
I know a guy who can help us figure out a definition. I never get tired of the good, old Biology song!
Because the cell is the unity of life (all living things are made of cells), we talked about cells quite a lot, and made a typical animal cell in a bag with candy.
They came out pretty good, with their organelles in all their sugary splendor.
And here they are, children at work.
